My Decorative Stance
I made this powerpoint to present my work over the summer.
I likened myself to an interior designer. That is why my canvases remain small and my brushstrokes smaller.
I like to build up detail on my small surfaces.
Double exposures, if you will.
I've been re-reading The Unbearable Lightness of Being-- a great read if you like working with polar opposites, or rather like seeing the interplay of opposites.
My ideas are vast, canvas tiny. Perfect playground for me.
Here's the (power)point:

I wanted to post it here, but it seems that Blogger isn't a fan of this decision.
Hopefully the link works for you.
Any who, I see a blank canvas as a house of sorts. I'm no architect which is why I find little pleasure in building my own canvases. I am an interior designer.
I like to press my brushes deep into the fibers of the canvas.
I also enjoy working on canvases with previous paint and muck on them. It makes my "job" much more interesting.
These are the pleasures I find in painting small.
I hope the link works.
Um...maybe comment if it doesn't work.
Thank you.
